This year's Fall Toot is dedicated to the memory of Tom Zajac, who provided us with inspiration, fascinating classes, and glorious music for many years. His death on August 31, 2015, leaves a void in the early music world, but also and especially in the hearts of those who came to know, admire and love him through workshops like the Texas Toot. We miss you, Tom. We hope you will join us for the 2015 Fall Toot, celebrating our 40th year! As usual, we have searched the world to provide you with an excellent lineup of all-star faculty!
Some classes are for learning technique of a specific instrument; others are one-to-a-part ensembles, while others are large ensemble classes. Some classes are for like instruments (all recorders or all viols), but we also offer mixed classes for instrumentalists and vocalists together. The size of the workshop enables us to create classes for all levels of students, from those of modest skills to advanced players and singers. The Toot once again takes place at the beautiful Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in East Texas. See the maps and directions page to learn more about where we'll be, how to get there, and so on. In addition to classes, there will be a faculty concert, the famous/infamous Great Texas Krummhorn Konklave, refreshments, and more. Continued by popular acclaim — the Bring-a-Friend tuition discount! Invite a first-time participant to come to the Fall Toot, and get a 20% discount on your tuition! Or bring back a former Tooter who's been gone 5 or more years, and get a 10% discount. Share the fun, and save! Be sure to get your reservations and deposits in as soon as possible. Volunteering to HelpAs always at the Toot, a big part of the fun is getting to know each other (and learning who the good cooks are!). If you can help with the snacks in the break-room (either by helping to set out the food, helping with clean-up, etc.) then please let us know in advance. If you can provide some snacks, whether homemade or store-bought (drinks are always welcome too), then please bring them along. After a rousing Krummhorn Konklave, there's nothing that cheers the soul better than a cinnamon-y coffee cake, cheese savories or yummy chocolate-chip cookies! Be creative and generous! Look at the Faculty and Class sections for faculty bios and lists of classes being offered. We look forward to welcoming you to our Texas Tradition! Choose Your Classes! The Texas Toot Fall Workshop reserves the right to modify programs and faculty rosters in response to enrollment, student preferences, and playing levels.
