We hope you will join us for the 2024 Fall Toot, with our usual excellent lineup of all-star faculty! Dates for this year’s workshop are November 22-24. Featured this Fall:
Frances Blaker and Jennifer Carpenter, recorder
Mary Springfels and Stephanie Noori, viola da gamba
Therese Honey, harp; Hector Torres, lute
Our classes include an array of introductory and technique classes, small, one-on-a-part ensembles and larger mixed vocal and instrumental groups. The size of the workshop enables us to create classes for all levels of students, from those of modest skills to advanced players and singers. In addition to classes, there will be a faculty concert, madrigal singing, refreshments, and more.
The Toot once again takes place at the beautiful Lakeview Methodist Conference Center, near Palestine in East Texas. The campus is shaded with hundreds of pine trees, and is well-suited to early-morning walks near the small lake. Dining, classes, and our headquarters are all within a 7-minute walk, but parking is easily available for those who prefer to drive.
Volunteering : As always at the Toot, we love to schmooze together at break times, and learn who the good cooks are! If you can help with the snacks in the break-room (either by helping to set out the food, helping with clean-up, etc) please let us know in advance. If you can provide a few special snacks (drinks are always welcome too), then bring them with you. After an invigorating playing session, it’s great to relax with some fresh grapes, home-made cookies, or sausage and cheese balls. Be creative and generous!
Save some cash! — earn the Bring-a-Friend tuition discount! Invite a first-time participant to come to the Fall Toot, and get a 20% discount on your tuition! Or bring back a former Tooter who’s been gone 5 or more years, and get a 10% discount. Share the fun, and save! Be sure to get your reservations and deposits in as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT COVID-19 information for all registrants:
We recognize that the Covid-19 virus is still at large in our world. For that reason, the Fall Texas Toot requires the following of all students, staff, and faculty, regarding Covid-19:
All attendees, at registration, must present a negative Covid test result obtained within the 24 hours prior to the start of the workshop. A photo of the test will suffice. If you did not test, we will have a few tests onsite for you to use, at cost (about $9); a positive result will mean you cannot be admitted. We recommend that you test at home on Friday morning before setting out for the workshop.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Texas Tradition!
